Psalm 43

O send forth your light and your truth;

let these be my guide.

Let them bring me to your holy mountain

to the place where you dwell.

And I will come to the altar of God,

the God of my joy.

My redeemer, I will thank you on the harp,

O God, my God.

Reflection

Christ himself is one of the guides, for he says “I am the light of the world” and again “I am the light – walk while you have the light.”  Light is that by which we are able to see.  The Holy Spirit is the other guide – the Spirit of Truth which Christ promised us.  “When the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.” (John 16.13)  These two guides are forever inviting us to an ever deeper communion with the Holy Trinity.  “The Spirit and the bride say ‘Come.’ (Rev 22.17)  What childlike heart is not stirred to excitement and joy over the possibilities?  Who will not respond?  Only the one who does not have the heart of a child.  “Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” (Luke 18.17)  The Spirit and the bride say “Come.”  Let everyone who hears say “Come.”  And let everyone who is thirsty come.  Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift.  (Rev 22.17)  Amen!
