In the presence of the angels I will bless you.
I will adore before your holy temple.
I thank you for your faithfulness and love
Which excel all we ever knew of you.
I take great comfort in the hope that “in the presence of the angels I will bless God.” What deeper desire in the soul could possibly exist than to join the choirs of angels in singing songs of adoration before God? And to think that this destiny has been won for us by Christ and awaits us after such a brief life upon earth has the power to lift the heaviest of hearts. “Your faithfulness excels all we ever knew of you.” This is the key to our faith: that God first loved us. His faithfulness is unsurpassing. Too often we find ourselves thinking that all depends upon us. That we must continually find our way out of the dark places into which we have gone. Yet God always takes the initiative of seeking us out once again. We must persevere, yes, but not with the anxiety of a person who has no faith in the ability of Christ to always find us in the darkness and lead us back into his light.
