Isaiah 26.7-21

The way of the just is smooth;

  the path of the just you make level.

Certainly the exterior way of the just can be as seemingly conflicted as the unjust.  But in the truest sense, the interior way of the just is smooth and level because, for the just, Christ is his Way.

Yes, for your way and your judgments, O Lord,

  we look to you.

“Take my yoke upon you, for it is light and easy” (Matthew 11.29)

Your name and your title

  are the desire of our souls.

“For the one who conquers I will write on them my own new name” (Revelation 3.12)

My soul yearns for you in the night,

  yes, my spirit within me keeps vigil for you;

“Watch, therefore, for you do not know the day or the hour” (Mark 13.33)

When your judgment dawns upon the earth,

  the world’s inhabitants learn justice.

“When the Advocate comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.” (John 16.8)

The wicked man, spared, does not learn justice;

  in an upright land he acts perversely,

and sees not the majesty of the Lord.

“Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5.8)

We conceived and writhed in pain,

  giving birth to wind;

Salvation we have not achieved for the earth,

  the inhabitants of the world cannot bring it forth.

“The virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel” (Isaiah 7.14b)

Go, my people, enter your chambers;

  and close your doors behind you;

Hide yourselves for a brief moment,

  until the wrath is past.

“Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you do not take part in her sins, and so that you do not share in her plagues” (Revelation 18.4)
