"But how then would the scriptures be fulfilled, which say it must happen in this way?"

Jesus, right after he finishes praying in the garden and encounters the large crowd with swords and clubs, tells us his Father would instantly send 72,000 angels to him if he asked.  But he, the Incarnate Word, must fulfill himself.  Could this, then, not be the strength and answer he receives in his prayer to his Father - that scripture must be fulfilled?  How are we to grasp this mystery?  Christ is the Word of the Father from the beginning.  He is fulfilling the revelation of himself as the Old Testament Wisdom.
