Matthew 15.29-31

After Jesus had left that place, he passed along the Sea of Galilee, and he went up the mountain, where he sat down.  Great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the maimed, the blind, the mute, and many others.  They put them at his feet, and he cured them, so that the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.

Reflection

"And they praised the God of Israel."  This indicates the crowed was mostly Gentile, who thought that miracles were reserved for the Jews only.  This shows us that all people are welcome at Christ's feet.  It does not matter who you are, what your background is, how faithless your life has been, how unworthy you think you are.  Do not wait to try to make yourself better before coming to Christ so that you do not feel ashamed.  Come to Christ as you are so that he may heal you as you are.  Your belief that he can heal you will draw his power down upon  you.  Christ came not to destroy but to give us life more abundantly.

All who come to Christ are healed.  It may not be in the way or manner you expect but if you believe you will be healed.  From countless past wounds and transgressions, from a hateful attitude, from a lack of charity or generosity, from painful memories - the ways in which Christ can heal as are as countless as our wounds and weaknesses themselves.  Why not come to him for healing each morning?  His power cannot be exhausted, and in today's world we always need healing from yesterdays injuries.  Lord, heal our bodies.  Heal our souls and minds for we have sinned against you.  May our health proclaim your fidelity and clemency.
