When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. After the people of that place recognized him, they sent word throughout the region and brought all who were sick to him, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed.
The people recognized him, spread the word about him, gathered the sick and took them to him, begged him to be allowed to touch him, touched him and were healed. That is a lot of activity on the part of the people. Jesus did the healing.
So often we ask to be healed, and well we should. But we remain at the asking part. We want God to visit us in our misery with little action on our part beyond sighing and emotional expressions. But these people at Gennesaret show us that much more is necessary. We must recognize where Jesus is, in our own way spread the news about him, rouse ourselves, leave aside our many occupations and go out to him. If we reach out to him in prayer and repentance, if we touch the garment of the living God in faith it is impossible that we not be healed. Perhaps not in the manner and style that we want but certainly we will receive what we need.
I imagine that some in Gennesaret remained in their homes. Perhaps they thought that as prayerful, faithful people they ought to be healed where they were.
