He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened."
Yeast mixed in with the flour. We Christians are God's yeast which he mixes with the flour of non-Christians, "that they may see our good works and give God praise." Who are we to complain of our situation out in the world among the flour - that is our life's purpose. And recall that only a small amount of yeast is needed for a large quantity of flour, so don't be surprised if you're one of very few. Be brave then, and steadfast O you who are yeast among flour.
A prayer --
Lord Jesus, please help me be yeast among the wheat today, a pinch of salt among the food. Mary most holy, your example shows that to be small and hidden is enormously fruitful, even if it is hard to believe sometimes, even if it is devalued by others or ourselves.
