"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Come to me. Do not come to the world, which exhausts and wearies you. Do not come to an idea, which are always issuing forth from the human mind. Do not come to a human person, who can never fully satisfy. Do not come to yourself and thus be imprisoned. Do not come to a religious or spiritual practice which promises peace. Come to me, Jesus Christ, Son of God, your Creator. I alone can give you rest, for you were created for me and that is why all else burdens you. Only when you fulfill the purpose for which you were created will you find rest and that purpose is to "learn from me and take my yoke."
To learn from me is to listen to me. You cannot listen to me when you are listening to the world, to others or to yourself. Listen to me and silence all others. But you cannot stop at listening. That would be like the man who listened to me and began constructing his life on listening instead of also obeying. When the trials came he was utterly lost. (Luke 6.49) Therefore learn from me by listening to the Word and then take my yoke upon you by obeying me. You may have stopped listening to the world but you will have remnants of the world's teaching deep within you. Foremost among those is that obedience is burdensome. How then can obedience to me relive you of your burdens? Because your soul was created to emulate me and I am perfectly obedient to the Father. You will experience the rebellion of your first parents within you but it is no more of a burden for you to hear and obey me than it is a burden for your body to breath. Breath and rest, obey and find peace.
My dear child how much I love you. How concerned I am for your daily burdens. How I long to give you rest beyond your ability to imagine it if you would but listen to me and obey me.
Come to me, all you who are carrying heavy burdens in your conscience from the old law, the law of Moses with its stifling regulations and fearsome punishments. You believe in your heart that what you have meted out to others will be meted out to you - that I follow "an eye for an eye." If you listen to me you will hear "the measure with which you measure will be measured unto you." Forgive, then, and be assured of my forgiveness of you. Do not judge others and I will not judge you. If you believe in me you will have life. If you do not believe in me you will be judged by the rigor of the old law which will lead to your despair. If you despair and refuse to believe in me you will turn to fear and then to hate. By abiding in hate you will enter the kingdom of the damned who would rather mete out their own justice onto themselves than believe in me and my unconditional mercy for those who show mercy.
As I was born into your world so must you be born anew into mine. That is why I have told you "unless you are born again you cannot enter into the kingdom."

Listen, my child, and accept my judgment;
do not reject my counsel.
Put your feet into her fetters,
and your neck into her collar.
Bend your shoulders and carry her,
and do not fret under her bonds.
Come to her with all your soul,
and keep her ways with all your might.
Search out and seek, and she
will become known to you;
and when you get hold of her,
do not let her go.
For at last you will find the rest she gives,
and she will be changed into joy for you.
Then her fetters will become for you a strong defense,
and her collar a glorious robe.
Her yoke is a golden ornament,
and her bonds a purple cord.
You will wear her like a glorious robe,
and put her on like a splendid crown. (Sirach 6.23-31)
