“We speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen.”

Jesus knows of heaven – he came from there.  And so he testifies to the things he has seen in heaven.  The apostles have seen Jesus, and testify to him (“we declare to you what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands” (1 John 1).  Ever since then, believers have seen, believed and testified.  But our faith rests ultimately on Christ’s testimony, which we know is true.  He backed it up with extraordinary signs, but the very words he spoke find a home in our hearts as true, good and one.
