Judith 16.14

“Let your every creature serve you; for you spoke, and they were made, you sent forth your spirit, and they were created; no one can resist your word.”

Reflection

Through the Word spoken at creation we have been created.  That same Word spoken at the Incarnation is the source of our recreation and redemption.  Eve was the bearer of new life at the dawn of man’s creation.  Mary is the bearer of the Word, our redemption.  Mankind, created when the Word was spoken, is the vehicle through which he learned of God through the law and the prophets.  The Word became flesh and showed us God’s own face.  The law and the prophets will not pass away, though Christ is the fulfillment of them all, because they are expressions of the Word prior to the Incarnation, and the Word is indivisible.
