Now the Lord said to Abram, 'Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you.
Go forth from this country in which you are in exile, the country in which you found yourself when I sent you forth from the garden of Eden. I have sent my Son to you, to lead you to the new paradise, far better than the first one. But you must go forth from your kindred, "leave your people and your Father's house, so will the king desire your beauty. He is your Lord, pay homage to him." (Psalm 45.10-11) Too long have you dwelt in this land of servitude. You have constructed houses, erected idols, pitched your tents and made a city for yourself in the kingdom of this earth.
Go forth from your father's house. "He who does not love me more than father or mother is not worthy of me." Go forth and do not look back in longing for the fleshpots you left in your place of slavery (Exodus 16.2-3), "for he who puts his hand to the plow but keeps looking back is not worthy of me." Go forth to the land that I will show you. Step forward into the darkness of faith, into the new interior country flowing with milk and honey. "Why spend your money for what is not food? Why labor for what fails to satisfy? Head me and you shall eat well, and delight in rich fare." (Isaiah 55.2-3)
"Of you my heart ha spoken: seek his face." (Psalm 27-7-9)
